Dr. Stephen Furtado has been the Executive Director of the Global Learning Charter Public School since 2009. He retired as a superintendent of schools in 2008. He has written the doctoral program for educational leadership at Simmons University and has taught at Boston University, Bridgewater State University and the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Furtado has overseen several school construction projects with the latest being the renovation of a convent adjacent to the school’s campus. It is expected to open in early 2023 as the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) Center for Education and Innovation. As a former criminal law instructor and school administrator he has worked with state and local law enforcement departments, architects and construction firms in school safety and security. His work has been recognized nationally in school design.
SESSION
Educational Leadership in School Construction Projects to Focus on Safety and Security
The participant will leave with architectural plans that identify a variety of ways safety and security measures were designed.
