Albert Martinez is the Chief of Police of the Dallas (TX) Independent School District Police and Security Department. Chief Martinez began his law enforcement career as a campus police officer for Sul Ross State University in 1992 and then in his hometown of Pecos, Texas. He joined the Dallas Police Department on August 13, 1993, where he served for over 29 years in its many roles involving patrol, administration, and investigations. Chief Martinez served as second in command of the Dallas Police Department when he retired. Chief Martinez has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University and a master’s degree in organizational management from Dallas Baptist University. Chief Martinez has been at the Dallas ISD Police and Security Department for over 2 years and has worked diligently to create safeguards and solutions for the threats and safety concerns the school district must face. Chief Martinez has fostered an environment of collaboration with school leadership and other agencies and is building core team standards focused on delivering a professional police service to the students, staff, and community that he and his department serve.
