Dr. Brown has been an educator for more than 20 years. Before becoming Deputy Superintendent, he served as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education, Director of Teaching and Learning, and Principal of middle and high school.
Dr. Brown has taught sociology for Milwaukee Area Technical College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He also taught psychology and Southern University. Dr. Brown has also taught sociology, American Government, and American History for Horlick High School in Racine, Wisconsin.
Dr. Brown graduated from Grambling State University with a BA in Psychology. He received his master’s degree in Social Sciences/Sociology from Grambling State University. He earned another master’s in administration, curriculum & instruction, and director of special education from National Louis University in Chicago, Illinois. Finally, Dr. Kevin Brown earned his PhD in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, WI.
Some of his career highlights include his work around equity, cultural proficiency, and Adverse Childhood Experiences. He has worked alongside Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings while serving as principal in Madison and Racine, Wisconsin. During his spare time, Dr. Brown is a jazz saxophonist and spends many nights playing in jazz venues.
