Dr. Kadee Anstadt is the retired superintendent of the Washington Local Schools in Toledo, Ohio. Her district experienced a school shooting at a football game. The extensive safety training her students and staff had undergone saved countless lives even though they’d never practiced that exact scenario. In her presentation, Kadee shares the event, but truly helps officials understand the communications that follow the event taking the audience through the timeline of the game preparation, the moment the shooting occurs, managing the crisis including the victims, and the crisis communication best practices that follow any school shooting. Additionally, Dr. Anstadt serves on the board of the Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention at the University of Michigan. She is a currently a professor at the University of Findlay preparing new principals and superintendents for service to their communities.
