Erica Reid
Senior Advisor, Blue Campaign, Office of Partnerships and Engagement
Erica Reid recently joined the Department of Homeland Security, Office of Partnership and Engagement as a Senior Advisor within the Blue Campaign this year. Her portfolio includes deterring criminal activity and educating communities that are more susceptible to human trafficking on how to protect themselves and others. Her portfolio major focus is on youth serving organizations, Native American/Tribal Nations, faith-based and Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Erica has over 16 ½ years of government service working recently under the Department of Justice for the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Erica worked in the Office of Public and Governmental Affairs as one of the lead Event Coordinators for the agency. She has successfully produced events such as: Director’s Swearing Ceremony, Building Dedications, Awards Ceremonies, Memorial Observance and much more. She also volunteered her time to become a Certified Government Meeting Planner for the agency and an Advance Training Instructor where she worked with a team on training other employees how to present their information. Prior to her position as a coordinator, she worked as a liaison within ATF’s Intergovernmental Affairs.
Erica also created a docent program to assist in promoting the agency through historical information and presentations. The successful program presented to college students who eventually applied to the agency, school-aged groups in the hundreds, various countries, mass media outlet representatives, a United States Deputy Attorney General, and a United States Senators. The presentation was eventually incorporated in New Employee Training at the ATF Academy.
A native Washingtonian; she received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Norfolk State University. Erica spends her spare time with her family, friends, and volunteering in her community. She is an avid traveler, crafter and working on creating a space for youth to learn to sew.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Blue Campaign is an awareness campaign to educate the public on how to recognize and report possible cases of human trafficking. Professionals who work with youth are in a unique position to play a role in stopping and preventing victimization of younger persons.
