Dr. Adrian Johnson is the Superintendent of Schools for Hearne ISD. He has served as a Superintendent in several school districts throughout his career and is well known for improving student outcomes in districts with high percentages of underserved student populations. He has improved all of those districts in which he has served to meet and exceed state standards academically and implemented evidenced based programs to sustain that success. Dr. Johnson has also successfully passed bond referendums and taken districts through the state accreditation process.
As the Superintendent of Schools for Hearne ISD, Dr. Johnson has lead innovation and “next practices” that have been recognized at the local, state and national level. He has been applauded for his ability to build partnerships with other districts and higher education in order to develop a network improvement community that supports the district efforts. The district’s continued involvement in this process has resulted to the improvement of the district to now have a “B” rating for district academic accountability and the improved their TEA status to ACCREDITED as a district.
Dr. Johnson is also a highly sought after and successful inspirational, motivational and knowledgeable speaker. He has been the keynote speaker at numerous functions for a variety of organizations. His most recent presentations were at the TASA Mid-Winter and the UT/TASA Conference. His professional affiliations include the Texas Association of School Administrators and the American Association of School Administrators.
Dr. Johnson’s 40+ years in education at the campus and district level includes roles as teacher, principal, Area Superintendent, Superintendent, and as the Associate Commissioner for Accreditation for the Texas Education Agency that included supervision over the Charter School Division. He has also served as the University Interscholastic League Legislative Council Member at Large and as well as the Texas Education Agency’s Accountability System Committee.
Dr. Johnson holds a Doctorate of Education in Educational Administration from Baylor University., a Masters of Education from Tarleton State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Tarleton State University.
