Charles Kenniff served in law enforcement for 37 years with the New York Police Department and the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. He has received numerous citations and awards and is a state-recognized expert on special populations and the Baker Act. Mr. Kenniff now leads a training and consulting company that provides de-escalation strategies to law enforcement, first-responder agencies, and corporations nationwide, and he also works with a firm focused on promoting school bus safety. He came to NAMI as a family member of someone who has experienced mental illness and his experience led him to volunteer with NAMI. He currently serves as President of the NAMI Florida Board of Directors. Mr. Kenniff is deeply committed to expanding access to NAMI’s support, education, and advocacy for people with lived experience.
