Ernie W. Lozano is currently the task-assigned Chief Safety & Security Officer of Broward County Public Schools. With a strong background in safety, security, and emergency preparedness, Ernie has been instrumental in leading safety and security in the District. His vast expertise and dedication ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff across the District. Ernie’s commitment to excellence and his proactive approach to security make him a valuable asset to the school community.
In addition to his current role, Ernie has achieved several notable accomplishments throughout his career. He has served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, principal supervisor, Executive Director of Behavioral Threat Management, Executive Director of Labor Relations/Professional Standards, and task-assigned Chief of Staff over his 27-year career in Broward County Public Schools. Ernie played a key role as a member of the state work group in designing and implementing the Florida Harm Prevention and Threat Management Model. His leadership and collaboration with various stakeholders have been instrumental in enhancing the District’s safety and security measures.
He has been recognized for his contributions to the District’s safety and security initiatives, receiving accolades for his exceptional leadership and commitment to student and staff well-being. His proactive approach and ability to navigate complex challenges have made him a trusted advisor and leader in the field of safety and security.
