SPEAKERS
Mary Beth Coyne has worked in the K-12 educational technology sector for 30+ years having worked for K-12 industry pioneers, start-ups and industry leaders. Her current role with GoGuardian involves working with schools and districts in the U.S. who may be seeking to better identify their students who may be struggling with self-harm and suicide. As a direct result of her family’s journey of dealing with a child who struggled with these very topics, she became very involved in NAMI to learn as much as possible about how we can support our students who are struggling. That entire journey led to joining GoGuardian in the role of a Beacon Specialist.

Supporting Student Mental Health and Wellness with GoGuardian Beacon
Content Warning:This session will discuss sensitive topics, including suicide, self-harm, and violence.Suicide is the second-most leading cause of death for youth aged 10-24 according to the CDC — and that’s just one marker across the broad spectrum of mental health struggles. Over the last two years, those struggles have increased among students and adults as the pandemic has fueled isolation and anxiety.
As schools have transitioned back to varying levels of “normal,” K-12 educators have a direct line to students at risk of mental health crises, including potential threats and violence to themselves or others. Join Mary Beth Coyne and Kevin Dorsey from the GoGuardian Beacon team to learn about how GoGuardian Beacon can help schools to support student mental health and create safer learning environments.
