Emergency Preparedness Administrator, Office of Emergency Management

Mrs. Christina Ortiz is a Certified Public Safety Executive and Florida Professional Emergency Manager with over 18 years of experience in public safety and emergency management. Mrs. Ortiz
works for Orange County Public Schools and serves as an Emergency Preparedness Administrator with the Office of Emergency Management. She currently leads a regional emergency preparedness program to include drills, exercises and trainings. Building a heightened organizational competency in preventing and responding to critical incidents and emergencies. She has effectively handled high stress emergency situations and has written and implemented emergency plans, COOP plans and federal grant management. She has project management experience to include writing business cases, RFPs, ITBs, and RFIs for projects in excess of $10 Million. Mrs. Ortiz is a graduate from Nova Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine where she earned an M.S. in Disaster and Emergency Preparedness with a concentration in Public Health and a B.S. in Criminal Justice.

This presentation will discuss the training, drills, and compliance that enables schools and administrative sites to be prepared for multi-hazard approach to incidents. The addition of enhanced drills that brings together teachers, administrators, and all ancillary school staff for an enhanced real world training. Bringing in the state mandates along with best practices brings it all together.This session will provide participants with proven drills and trainings that can enable them to implement an effective program.
