Communications Program Specialist, School Safety Task Force

Aimee Manjarres serves as a communications program specialist for the School Safety Task Force at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. In this role, Ms. Manjarres oversees various communications and outreach efforts to key internal and external K-12 organizations, leads the management of the SchoolSafety.gov website, and assists with the development of capacity building tools to support and enhance school safety and security efforts. Her work focuses on equipping the academic community with resources and tools to create safe and supportive learning environments.

Join the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's School Safety Task Force to explore the complex set of dynamic and evolving security risks that K-12 schools and school systems face. The presenter will share research-informed strategies and recommendations that enhance safe and supportive learning environments through collaborative, holistic and actionable approaches to reducing violence.Learning Objectives
- Equip session participants with resources, tools, and best practices for ongoing enhancement of school safety systems at their respective schools.
- Provide session participants with the knowledge to assess their school’s current threat environment and protection measures.
- Inspire session participants to identify areas for improvement in their school safety plans and empower them to take action to address deficiencies.
